Trend Forecasting Conference

We’ve all been to a load of trends conferences (and I speak at them at various places around the world on a regular basis), but one event coming up soon that I won’t be speaking at, but will definitely attend, is ‘Futurefest’ which looks like an excellent day.

According to the conference info “It pays to think about the future: after all, you’ll be spending the rest of your life there. Futurefest, coming to Shoreditch Town Hall next month, assembles some excellent minds to discuss how we can, and should, shape the coming decades.

Perhaps the headline name is Sir Martin Rees, the Astronomer Royal, who once wrote a book with the cheerful title ‘Our Final Century’. He’ll be joined by Wired Editor-at-Large Ben Hammersley, noted futurologist Tamar Kasriel, TV regular Mark Miodownik, comedian Robin Ince, Impossible.com founder Lily Cole, Newnight economics editor Paul Mason, Boing Boing editor and sci-fi author Cory Doctorow and, well, we could go on, long into the future.

Between ‘em, the speakers will explore the future of creativity and technology, the future of the planet and our ecosystems, the development of economies and political systems, as well as speculating on what it might mean to be human 50 years from now”.

Anyway, any event involving the great Paul Mason is guaranteed to be superb – so see you there!
